Reasons for choosing West Chester: “I chose West Chester because as soon as I stepped on the campus, I knew that was where I wanted to spend the next four years. The swim team is made up of both a great group of guys and girls, and coach Mazurek is fantastic. I’m super excited to get to swim under him. The girls’ team has won consecutive Pennsylvania Athletic State Conference championship titles as well as achieved Academic All-American status each of the past 18 years, and I cannot wait to be a part of that!”
What was the progression that led you to competing in swimming at the collegiate level? “I knew since middle school that I had wanted to swim at a collegiate level. It was just a matter of where. Throughout freshman and sophomore year, I began to do research on schools I would be interested in and could swim at. Junior year I began touring schools and meeting and talking to coaches. After narrowing down my list to about five schools at the start of senior year. I started to plan official visits to have the opportunity to spend the weekend on campus and with the team.”
Coach Rachel Magee says: “Rachel is a great swimmer. I’ve known her for seven years, and then I had the opportunity to come home and coach her this winter. Her specialty is the breaststroke, but Jenna is one of the girls you could put in any event that we have, and you know she’ll come through. She swims the 200 IM, the 100 free style and the 100 breaststroke. She works really hard in the pool, and she always sets a good example for the other girls in terms of being at practice and working hard, making sure she’s up for events, making sure everyone else is getting up, and just making sure everyone is getting the job done.”
