Emily Alexis – Sacred Heart University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Business Law
Final list of colleges:  Sacred Heart, Villanova, Ursinus, Ohio State
Reasons for choosing Sacred Heart:  “I visited the campus, and I just felt like I was at home. There was every aspect that I wanted – education and field hockey. When I went on my overnight, the girls made me feel so welcomed. I just knew this was my place for the next four years.
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I knew pretty much my entire life that I wanted to play in college. I was raised to play field hockey. My mom played, and I’ve always loved it so much. When I got to freshman year, my dad said, ‘Do you want to continue?’ It wasn’t even a question.”
Coach Jamie Pinto says:  “Emily has just worked so hard. She’s been a four-year starter as part of the program. This year she was a captain, and she led the team on and off the field. She motivated the team, and she helped the girls around her, not only by her play but by being positive, encouraging her teammates. She’s very versatile. She played anywhere we needed her over the four years. She never complained, she just always did what was best for her team. Whenever she was out on the field, she always gave it all she had. She just puts her heart into it. She has so much energy, and she brings that competitive edge. She’s so competitive, but she’s the nicest person too. We’re really going to miss her. She just did a great job.”

Mia Sexton – Temple University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Business
Final list of colleges:  Temple, Villanova, St. Joseph’s
Reasons for choosing Temple:  “The coaching staff and just the whole environment, being right in the city.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I knew from a young age that I wanted to play in college. It wasn’t until the summer going into my junior year that I committed to Temple.”
Coach Jamie Pinto says:  “This year Mia really stepped up for us. She’s moved around positions between midfield and forward. She stepped up for us at forward and became a complete offensive threat. All the teams knew about her. She also helped the players around her. We had new players coming in on the left and right side, and she just guided them by her play. She has great stick skills, she found the back of the net well this year, and she’s just going to keep improving, so I’m excited to see how her college career turns out.”
