Zach Boop – Lehigh University (Baseball)

Major:  Mechanical Engineering

Final list of colleges:  Lehigh, Bucknell, Penn State, Millersville

Reasons for choosing Lehigh:  “When I went there, I loved it. It’s a good-sized school, it’s not too far away, and the coaches were awesome.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level?  “My older brother is a sophomore at Penn State-Harrisburg, and I just followed in his footsteps.”

Coach Dan Toner says:  “Zach knows how to pitch, and he’s a competitor. Every single game he goes out there - he wants the ball, he wants to win those big games for us. Every single big game we had – he was our guy out on the mound.
“In the beginning of the season in his first six games, he was almost untouchable, and then he hurt his arm a little bit, but he was still winning games. He had a fantastic season, but the first half of the season, he was the most dominant pitcher I’ve seen. Every time he goes out, you know he’s going to keep the other team to one, two, three runs – something low. He takes the stress off hitters when he’s out there. That was one of the biggest things for us early on.”
