Erin Chioffe – DeSales University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Nursing
Final list of colleges:  DeSales, Wilkes, The College of New Jersey
Reasons for choosing DeSales:  “DeSales has an incredible nursing program, and it has the perfect campus. It’s not too small but not too big either, which is what I was looking for. It’s also not too far from my house, so my family can come see me play.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I always knew I wanted to play field hockey in college; that was the easy decision, the difficult part was knowing whether or not I would be able to play and still achieve my academic aspirations. I want to be a nurse, and when I visited DeSales, they understood that education came first, that practices would be scheduled around our (the team’s) classes, and that’s when I knew DeSales was right for me. On my first visit, Coach Griffiths (my coach at DeSales) actually came around on the tour with me and my family, and seeing her so passionate about the school made me love it so much more.”
Coach Pat Toner says:  “Erin did a great job as a deep defender and was a crucial part of our corner team. She led the area in defensive saves and helped direct our defense. She has an excellent work ethic and we are happy to see her bring her experience and skills to DeSales.”

Lauren Dougherty – Arcadia University (Field Hockey)
Major:  Elementary and Special Education
Final list of colleges:
Arcadia, The College of New Jersey, Millersville, Immaculata
Reasons for choosing Arcadia:  When going on a tour in my junior year, Arcadia created the perfect atmosphere for me with its size, welcoming student body, various amenities and great Education program. Also, I always enjoyed playing with the field hockey team during their annual summer camps, and when I started seriously looking at Arcadia, I made a great connection with the girls.
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I always loved field hockey and knew that I didn’t want it to end at the end of high school. I started seriously thinking about playing in college after attending Festival and different showcases my freshman year. The summer going into my junior year I knew D3 was the fit for me because it balanced school and sports.  I started seriously looking at playing at Arcadia after talking and keeping in touch with Coach Livingston while attending summer camps for multiple years throughout high school.”
Coach Pat Toner says:  “From the minute I met Lauren (Doc), I knew I had a player who was a leader, eager to learn, and willing to do whatever was asked of her. She is a hard worker and an excellent athlete, student, and person. She was a crucial part of our successful corner team and we will miss her. We look forward to seeing her continue her career at Arcadia.”
