Kailyn Evans – University of San Diego (Swimming)

Major:  Business

Final list of colleges:  San Diego, Penn State, Alabama

Reasons for choosing San Diego State:  “It really came down to the team camaraderie. I really feel if everyone gets along and everyone pushes each other, you’ll succeed in the end.”

What was the progression that led you to swimming at the collegiate level?  “I’ve been swimming since I was five, so I knew right away that I wanted to swim in college.”

Coach Jeff Faikish says:  “Kailyn started swimming when she was five, and I was fortunate to be one of those coaches to begin her career, following in the footsteps of her mother. Kailyn is a very passionate and driven athlete. She sets her mind at something, and she follows through with a lot of intensity and forward thinking.
“When she returned home from San Diego, I said, ‘So what did you think?’ She said, ‘I love that place,’ and I knew immediately that was going to be the perfect choice for her. Kailyn is leaving here as the school record holder in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke, events her mother used to own.”
