STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Sterling Limo Player of the Game:
Andrew Basalyga, Pennsbury – The senior fullback is best known for his blocking and hard-nosed defense at linebacker, but he was the difference maker on offense in Pennsbury’s 36-15 win over archrival Neshaminy in last week’s District One 6A quarterfinal game. Basalyga was the Falcons’ leading ground gainer with 155 yards and two touchdowns.
Coach Dan McShane says: “Andrew is a down-to-the-bone football player. He’s smart, fast and tough. He has been in our defensive system for three years now. He makes it very difficult for teams to run against us especially. This year he has made a tremendous impact on our offense too. He has been used primarily as a blocker and short yardage back.
“This past Friday at Neshaminy - on a cold, windy night – he became much more than that as he ripped through the wind, cold and secondary on numerous occasions. He is a ‘whatever for the W kid’ and a team captain with a tremendous work ethic.”
Sterling Limo Player of the Game:
Nick Tarburton, Pennridge – The senior linebacker was a force to be reckoned with in Pennridge’s 25-0 win over Perk Valley in a District One 6A quarterfinal game. Tarburton had 12 tackles – including one tackle for a loss – to lead a punishing Rams’ defense. He also had a touchdown catch.
Coach Jeff Hollenbach says: “Nick is the obvious choice in terms of what happens in the middle. It’s pretty obvious what he does physically, but what you don’t see is his leadership with these other guys. They all respect him, they all look up to him, and he’s always getting them motivated. He’s another coach on the field. It’s just such an awesome thing to be able to coach a player like him.”
Sterling Limo Player of the Game:
Max Winebrake, Upper Dublin – The senior middle linebacker turned in a monster performance on the defensive side of the football in Upper Dublin’s 17-12 win over defending district champion Academy Park in a District One 5A quarterfinal. Winebrake had 17 total tackles, one sack and two caused fumbles.
Coach Bret Stover says: “Max has been our leading tackler all year. In fact, he has led our team in tackles in 10 of 11 games. He has been a warrior the last three seasons. He cut his teeth playing alongside his brother Henry in 2015 and has carried on the family tradition.”
SOL Honor Roll:
Ryan Garner, Pennridge – The senior running back had another big night in Pennridge’s 25-0 win over Perk Valley, finishing with 109 yards on 19 carries.
Julian Gimbel, Upper Dublin – On a night when the Cardinals struggled to move the ball on the ground, the senior quarterback threw for 181 yards and ran for 55 more in Upper Dublin’s 17-12 win over Academy Park.
Zak Kantor, Pennridge – The junior quarterback completed five passes – three for touchdowns – and threw for 129 yards in Pennridge’s 25-0 win over Perk Valley.
Nasan Robbins, Pennsbury – The senior running back had 124 yards on the ground and two touchdowns in Pennsbury’s 36-15 win over Neshaminy.
Diante Wiggins, Pennsbury – The senior linebacker led the Falcons’ defense with 11 tackles in Pennsbury’s 36-15 win over Neshaminy.
