Bryan Garry scored four goals and assisted on another for a five-point night, but the Trojans – the top-seeded team from the SHSHL – still saw their season come to an end in an opening round game of the Flyers Cup at Hatfield Ice.
Things certainly looked promising in a first period that saw the Trojans – who were without Sean Garry - race to a 4-1 lead. Philippe Doucette’s goal 66 seconds into the contest gave Unionville an early 1-0 lead, but the Trojans responded with four unanswered goals.  Alex Carrozza and Garry each scored a pair of goals.  Garry assisted on Carrozza’s second goal, and Matt Cade assisted on Garry’s first.
The second period was another story entirely as Unionville reeled off four unanswered goals to go on top 5-4 before Garry found the net with the equalizer, using a Nolan Ryan assist. Doucette’s second goal of the night sent the Indians into the final period with a 6-5 lead.
Garry (Alex Myrhman assist) found the net with the tying goal 3:27 into the third period, but Unionville’s Jamie Wenzel scored the go-ahead goal just over a minute later. Myrhman (Nolan Piatkowski assist) scored 9:43 into the period, knotting the score 7-7. Twenty-three seconds later, Jack McKenna gave the Indians a lead they would not lose. McKenna’s empty net goal in the final seconds of the game gave the Indians their final margin of victory.
Unionville’s Brandon Terrey turned away 15 shots in a winning effort in goal.

(A5) HERSHEY 10, (A12) UPPER DUBLIN 0
In their first trip to the Flyers Cup in eight years, the Flying Cardinals fell behind early, trailing 3-0 after one period. Things didn’t improve a whole lot in a second quarter that saw Hershey reel off five unanswered goals to go on top 8-0 on their way to the no-doubt-about-it win at IceLine.
Hershey was led by the four-point efforts of Patrick Larkin and Sabatino Iannorello. Both players had three goals and one assist.
UD goalie Stephen Sanders turned away 51 of 61 shots in goal. Hershey’s Christopher Larkin was forced to make just four saves in the shutout win.
