The Trojans capped off this week’s two-game set with a hard-fought victory over Harry S. Truman. Truman's offense was clicking early against the Trojans starting pitcher Garret Hirsch ('19). The Tigers pounded the Trojans for 4 runs in the 1st, but Hirsch settled into the game and tossed 2 shutout innings to conclude his 3 innings of work. The Trojan offense responded in kind by tacking on runs in each of the first three frames, highlighted by a 4 run third inning. The 6 unanswered runs proved to be enough for the Trojans bullpen. Sophomore Gio D'Amore got the call in the fourth, and tossed 1.1 innings while allowing one. Juniors Joel Bjordammen and Bobby McFarland combined to shut down the Tigers and secure the Trojans victory. The Tigers threatened the Trojans 1-run lead with a small ball effort. The Tigers created opportunities by moving runners into scoring position late in the game, but solid defense and gutsy relief efforts by the Trojans preserved the win.
