ABINGTON 3, CHELTENHAM 0
The Ghosts completed a three-game week with a sweep of the visiting Panthers.
Freshman Sean Dougherty led the defense with 18 digs. The Ghosts’ offense was led by hitters D.Gonzalez (nine kills), S.Collins (seven kills) and J.Harkins (seven kills). Setter TJ Dougherty had 30 assists.
SOUDERTON 3, NORTH PENN 1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-15)
The Indians dropped the first set to the visiting Knights but regrouped to win the next three.
“In the first set, North Penn played with more energy,” coach Dave Stastny said. “In the second set, we played well, and sets three and four we stayed focused to close out the match. I’m proud of the team for staying focused and finishing strong.”
Ben Campman led the Indians with 17 kills. Brett Cornman had nine kills followed by Matt O’Neil with eight kills. Luke Pagan had 35 assists and four blocks. Harshil Desai had 13 digs.
For the Knights, setter Drew Coles had 23 assists, 10 digs, three kills and two aces. Michael Wang led the Knights at the net with 10 kills, one block and 10 digs. Isaac Lambert added five kills, two aces and two digs, and Kevin Abraham had five kills and two blocks. Zach Jayes (three kills, two blocks) and Alex Stoler (three aces, two kills, five digs) also made important contributions.
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, LA SALLE 0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-19)
The Indians rolled to a sweep over the host Explorers.
Setter Nick Baniewicz had 35 assists to go along with four digs, one kill, one ace and one block. Jack Gunshenan (15 kills, three digs) led the Indians at the net while Eddie Mancinelli paced the defense (13 digs, three assists).
Also contributing were Harry Wyatt (six kills, one dig), Sean D’Arcy (five kills, two aces, one block), Justin Burns (four kills, one dig, one ace, one block), Justin Walton (three kills, one block), Keven D’Arcy (two kills, three aces, two digs), Will Hewitt (three kills), Vytis Duncia (three kills, two digs) and Nick Ripans (two digs).
Council Rock North (4-0, 2-0 SOL) will travel to the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday.
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 2 (25-22, 15-25, 25-23, 15-25, 15-10)
The Panthers won a hard-fought battle against their neighboring rival. Keith Mueller had a big night at the net with 10 kills and four blocks. Dennis Grabert added eight kills, and Bohdan Tkachov had seven kills.
LANSDALE CATHOLIC 3, BENSALEM 2 (25-20, 18-25, 12-25, 25-18, 15-9)
The Owls opened up a 2-1 lead only to watch the Crusaders rally to win the next two.
Basheer Ghafary had 30 assists and six kills to lead the Owls. Ethan Fan had five kills, three aces and three blocks.
Bensalem (1-1 SOL) fell to 4-2 overall.
FREEDOM 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-19)
The Panthers were swept by Freedom, but Logan Spieker had another big match, finishing with 12 kills and eight digs. Josh Moyer had seven kills and four digs, and Cameron Cronk added four kills. Justin Flor had four kills, four digs and 11 assists, and Zach Frei had four kills and 19 assists.
