SOL Boys' Lacrosse Wrap (4-11-18)

CB South and Springfield Township were winners in SOL boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.

he CB South Titans beat Hatboro Horsham 13-8 in an action-packed game on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Dante Poli led the team with five goals, including the 100th goal of his CB South varsity career.
Other scorers included sophomore Logan Swangler, sophomore Colin Abbonizio, and junior Dylan Grosso with two goals each, and sophomore Angus Ballantine and senior Matt Stoll with one goal each.  Poli also had two assists with Abbonizio, senior Joe DeLaurentis and junior Austin Novick each contributing one. 
Sophomore Tyler Horvath led the Titans with seven ground balls, followed by Poli with five, while Ballantine, DeLaurentis, senior Connor Falkowski, sophomore Matt McDonald and Stoll had three each.  Swangler, Abbonizio, Grosso, Novick and junior Dylan McCrory had two ground balls each.  Freshman Christian Manibo led the Titans with three forced turnovers, followed by two forced turnovers from Poli and one each from McDonald and junior Kian Watkins. Horvath went 13-for-19 at X, and Stoll was 3-for-6.  Senior goalie Bobby Sautner saved 6. 
Central Bucks South (3-1, 1-0 SOL) will travel to Harry S Truman on Friday, and Hatboro-Horsham (0-3) will host Upper Dublin on Friday.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 4, POPE JOHN PAUL II 3
The Spartans won a nail biter, opening up a 1-0 halftime lead and going on to edge PJP by one goal.
Paul Richardson had a hand in all four goals, scoring two and assisting on two others. Zach Coppol and Brennan Fluehr each had one goal.
Ryan Wilsbach and Justin Smith combined to win 7-of-10 face-offs.
Spartan goalie Paul Asman spearheaded a stellar defensive effort, turning away eight shots in a winning effort.
Springfield Township (4-2) will host Souderton on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

ABINGTON 16, HARRY S TRUMAN 1
Junior Marco Mcafee scored four goals and freshman Evan Figueroa added a hat trick to lead the Ghosts to a convincing win over the Tigers. Senior Dan Helm and junior Nate Rose both added two goals. Contributing one goal each were senior Andrew West, junior Dominic Ricciardi, junior Mike Mulvhill, senior Jake Gieger and junior Tony Figueroa.
