Hatboro-Horsham Comments
The Hatboro-Horsham Hatters dropped a 2-1 decision at Springfield on Tuesday afternoon.

The Hatters scored first in the top of the 1st inning when sophomore SS Jake Bianchini led off with a single to right field and then after an out, scored on sophomore DH Anthony Bruno’s double. The Hatters were threatening to add on to their lead when Bruno advanced to third on a wild pitch and senior 3B Kevin Waeltz walked to set up first and third with one out. However, Springfield senior ace, Nick Pave, got HH senior RF Shane Carpenter to ground into a double play to end the threat.

Springfield tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the 3rd inning when LF Dahme singled and eventually scored on CF McCaffrey’s sacrifice fly. The Spartans took the lead in the bottom of the 4th inning when RF Perry singled and stole second base. He advanced on the same play when the throw went into the outfield. After a groundout, Perry scored on C Murphy’s single to center field.

Two runs was all the runs that Pave would need to secure the win for the Spartans. Pave threw a complete game allowing just the one run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven. Hatters starting pitcher, sophomore Jackson Treski, battled through some control issues and allowed just two runs in four innings on two hits, seven walks, one hit batter and four strikeouts. Sophomore Eric Thron followed Treski with one and a third scoreless innings pitched and senior Alex Crim recorded the final two outs.

The Hatters (3-8 Overall, 3-5 SOL American) will be back in action on Thursday when they host Upper Moreland.
