Faith Turner – Howard University (Lacrosse)
Major: Business Communications
Reasons for choosing Howard: “I’ve always wanted to attend a top historically black college university (HBCU).”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “It was the end of junior year when I found out that Howard University had a Division I lacrosse team, and I was all in! I was a soon-to-be senior who had only played lax for three years, which isn’t a lot of experience compared to most recruits. So my coaches helped me get on a travel lacrosse team called the Phantastix for the summer. With the help and support of my family and coaches throughout the recruitment process, I was able to receive an athletic scholarship to play for Howard University.”
Coach Madison Hurwitz says: “Faith received our coach’s award last year. She’s dedicated, she says thank you after every single practice, she stays after every single practice to play wall ball. She knows how important her non-dominant hand is in lacrosse, so she ran around the track every day practicing her left hand. She comes from a great family, a supportive family. She’s our senior captain. She’s so fast, and her stickwork has caught up to her speed. Her lax IQ is up there too. She played club lacrosse last summer which helped her develop, and she’s a great leader.”
