Setter Basheer Ghafary had a career-high 43 assists to lead the Owls to the non-league win. Greg Philip (14 kills), Jay Tilvawala (11 kills) and Shiv Patel (10 kills) had strong games at the net, but it was Paul Leible (13 kills, 2 blocks) that provided a huge spark for the Owls, according to coach Tim Linehan.
LA SALLE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2
Stat leaders for the Patriots in Thursday’s non-league match were Carter Haban with 25 kills, two aces and three digs, and Steve Storm with 52 assists, three kills, two blocks and three digs. Jacob LaBouliere picked up five digs and added four assists. Other contributors for the Patriots included Dylan Colbert with 16 kills and two assists, Andrew Bennett with nine kills and two blocks and Christian Wolf with five blocks and seven kills.
SOUDERTON 3, LIBERTY 1 (25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19)
The Indians traveled to Liberty on Thursday and came away with the four-set win.
“We played the match with good effort and enthusiasm,” coach Dave Stastny said.
Ben Chapman led the team with 15 kills. Matt O’Neil added 12 kills and Brett Cornman had eight. Setter Luke Pagan had 44 assists. Leading the defense were Jared Martin and Harshil Desai with 12 digs each.
