Pennridge's Hefner & Loughery to Play Collegiate Lacrosse

On Thursday, May 24, 2018, Pennridge seniors Casey Hefner and Grace Loughery were recognized for committing to continue their lacrosse careers at the collegiate level. Check back for photos of the event.

Casey Hefner – Bloomsburg University (Lacrosse)
Major:
Criminal Justice
Final list of colleges:  Bloomsburg, St. Bonaventure
Reasons for choosing Bloomsburg:  “I got along well with coach Hertz and the team. I love the campus and the academic opportunities.”
Athletic accomplishments:  Most Courageous Athlete, All-SOL Third Team, Coaches Award (two years)
Coach Karen Schnurr says:  “Casey tore her ACL last year, which we thought would be her standout season, and she still was a leader on the sidelines. This year she found herself in a different role of being the only senior playing, so she really had a lot of weight on her shoulders to lead the team on the field. Casey is very soft spoken, but she would pull the attack in, and when Casey speaks, no one else speaks. They’d listen and they respect her.”

Grace Loughery – United State Naval Academy (Lacrosse)
Major:
Aerospace Engineering
Final list of colleges:  Naval Academy, Harvard, USC, Princeton, JMU
Reasons for choosing the Naval Academy:  “I love the atmosphere with a beautiful campus, the academic excellence, and I want to serve my country.”
Athletic achievements:  All-SOL First Team (four years), Surpassed the career 200-goal mark.
Coach Karen Schnurr says:  “What’s most impressive about Grace is her dedication. There’s never a day that she doesn’t want to work out or improve her stick skills. She had pure dedication to the team. Grace is very soft spoken, but she leads by example. It could be sprinting to get into a shuttle line, and everyone else follows her lead. It could be picking up her intensity in practice or the spark on the field in a game, but she definitely leads by example. She’s irreplaceable.”
