Check out the recaps for SOL girls’ volleyball teams in action Friday.
SOL National Conference
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, BENSALEM 1 (25-17, 25-8, 21-25, 25-5)
The Titans received contributions up and down their lineup in Friday’s season-opening win.
Junior middle Allie Burke had seven kills, four blocks and one ace while freshman middle Millie Grove had eight kills, two aces and two blocks. Senior outside hitter Courtney Pol contributed eight kills and three digs. Defensive specialists McKenna Clow (four aces, 13 digs) and Maddie Mauri (six aces, eight digs) also came up big. Junior setter Lizzie Shirley handed out 23 assists to go along with six digs and one kill.
"Almost all of our girls contributed something tonight" said CB South coach Kurt Godfrey. "At the beginning of every season, we play around with lineups and try to figure out which ones work best for us. Tonight we figured that out. I am really proud of the way our younger girls played. We got big nights from Allie, Courtney and Millie at the net. Ashley Scott seemed to be our rock tonight in the back row and she was all over the place for us. McKenna (Clow) and Maddie (Mauri) seemed to get to everything that Ashley couldn't.
"We have a tough start to next week as we take on CB West but our girls will take the good, and the bad, from tonight and learn from it. I know they'll be ready for a big battle on Tuesday."
For the Owls, Sydney Bawuah, according to coach Tim Linehan, had an excellent all-around game, contributing six kills, three aces and two assists. Maddie Buechner (six kills, one ace), Grace Fan (five digs) and Crystal Dang (11 assists) also played well for Bensalem.
