STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Sterling Limo Offensive Players of the Week:
First star: Jordan Collazo, Hatboro-Horsham – The senior running back was a workhorse, carrying the ball 21 times for 211 yards in Hatboro-Horsham’s 7-6 win over Cheltenham.
Coach Mike Kapusta says: “Jordan Collazo had a big night against Cheltenham both on offense and defense. Defensively, he made big plays throughout the game and down the stretch with great hustle flying to the ball. Offensively, he ran the ball very effectively between the tackles, on cutbacks, and had a big outside run that set up the winning score. His brother, Ismael, was the recipient of a Will Riemenschneider pass for the game winning TD. Jordan has a knack for making big plays in crunch time and has been a huge part of the team's success this season.”
Second star: Jalen White, Souderton – The sophomore running back had a breakout game, rushing for 127 yards on eight carries with one touchdown in Souderton’s 39-6 win over Council Rock North.
Third star: Zak Kantor & Jon Post, Pennridge – The senior duo hooked up for three touchdowns in Pennridge’s 55-20 win over William Tennent. Kantor threw for 236 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions while Post caught six passes for 114 yards and three TDs.
Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Week
First star: Pennsbury’s Defense – After CR South opened up a 19-7 halftime lead, the Falcons’ defense stymied the Golden Hawks’ offense in the second half and did not allow a point after the intermission in Pennsbury’s 22-19 win over Council Rock South. The defense forced a fumble and recovered it to thwart a last-minute drive by the Hawks.
Coach Dan McShane says: “We played really good run defense. We thought they were going to run the clock a little bit. The other thing that helped our defense was that our offense was on the field a lot. We’ve been struggling to get off the field on third downs. We did a better job. We loaded the box if they were going to try and run some clock. On their last drive, they probably had to get out of their conservative mode. We were playing pass defense all the way there, and we got in the pass rush mode. It was good to get the pass rush, it was a coverage sack, so it was all aspects.”
Second star: Nick Guthre, Souderton – The junior defensive back had 13 tackles and an interception in Souderton’s 39-6 win over Council Rock North.
Second star: James Koliyah, Harry S Truman – The senior lineman, who has been a key contributor on both sides of the ball, had 13 tackles in Harry S Truman’s 42-27 win over Abington.
Third star: Drew Bethke & Otto Maeglin, Central Bucks East – The East seniors, who lead the Patriots in tackles this season, led the defense in Central Bucks East’s 23-18 win over Central Bucks South. Bethke had six tackles and one interception while Maeglin had six tackles.
Sterling Limo Special Teams Players of the Week
First star: Central Bucks East Special Teams – As a unit, East’s special teams recovered a pair of fumbles on kickoffs that led to points in Central Bucks East 23-18 win over Central Bucks South. Junior Michael Smigley had three field goals and was 2-for-2 on PATs. He also averaged 39 yards on punts with a long of 42 and had one inside the five-yard line. Smigley also had an interception on defense.
Coach John Donnelly says: “We spend a tremendous amount of time trying to perfect every aspect of the special teams game. More importantly our players buy into the fact that it is just as important a phase as offense or defense. Our Special Teams Coordinator, Tim Barno, is way into it! He gets the other coaches organized and our players believe that they are additional offensive or defensive plays that we can score points on or defend.”
Second star: DeAndre Wakefield, Souderton – The senior running back had a 56-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in Souderton’s 39-6 win over Council Rock North.
Third star: Mert Yilidrem, Harry S Truman– The varsity soccer player has given stability to the Tigers’ kicking game and was a perfect 6-for-6 on PATs in Harry S Truman’s 42-27 win over Abington.
