Arielle Hammer – Boston University (Lacrosse)

Major:  Undecided (Communications or Business)

Final list of colleges:  BostonU, Lafayette, High Point, Brown, Delaware

Reasons for choosing BostonU: “I chose Boston because the school is just amazing academically and athletically. The city of Boston is just really awesome. I just loved it. I stepped on campus and felt like it was home.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “My freshman summer I started to realize I wanted to play in college. It was basically when I started to get recruited. I just started thinking more and more about the sport because I’m also a swimmer, so I had to decide which sport I wanted to play. I’ve played sports my entire life, so I knew I wanted to play a sport in college from the start. I just realized after my freshman year that’s what I wanted to do.”

Coach Marie Schmucker says:  “When I saw her as a freshman, I was very blessed to have the opportunity to meet her and actually coach her. She’s so talented across the board. She’s a fabulous student-athlete. She’s a leader on the field, she’s the glue that holds the team together, and she makes everybody around her that much better. She’s just a great all-around player. Her determination, drive and work ethic are unbelievable, and that’s not taught. She has that strong force within, and she’s relentless. There were times when I put her on the field when we were winning by a lot, and I’m like, ‘Wow, she can play the field as well.’ She’s just an all-around player. I’ve been very lucky to let her steer the ship back there for four years. She will be extremely successful at Boston, and she will go far in life.”
