Reasons for choosing La Salle: “My coach at La Salle, Kelly Broadway, is my club coach too, and I really liked her as a coach. I really liked the girls on the team and the campus, and I also like how it’s close to home.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level? “I started field hockey in first grade, and my aunt (Michelle Finegan) is a coach too and she owns the club I play on (FSC), and I really always knew I wanted to play in college.”
Coach Pat Toner says: “Casey is one of the most deceptive players – teams would put two, three and four people on her, and she still would manage to score. It was no surprise that we highlighted Casey and featured her on corners, but stopping her was another story. In all my years of coaching, she’s probably got the most beautiful stickwork of anyone I’ve coached. She really grew as a player, and it was honor to coach someone of her caliber. I know how rare it is to have players like that in your career, and I’m really glad I was here while she was here. On top of everything else, she’s one of the nicest kids. She probably doesn’t even know that I remember this, but she was one of the first ones to send a note saying, ‘Happy Thanksgiving’ or ‘thank you.’ She’s a very humble player, never thinks she deserves the recognition that she gets. She always thinks there are people better than her. I’m excited that she came into her own, especially this year, and really did a wonderful job scoring and just led the team as a fantastic captain.”
