SOL SHSHL Player of the Week
This recognition is sponsored by Bergey’s Inc. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches, and the recipient must be a positive presence on the ice and a credit to the game. Consideration also is given to the student-athlete’s standing in the school and community.
Jared Albano – Senior, North Penn High School
A four-year varsity player, the senior center has been part of the program since his middle school playing days. Albano displayed his versatility by playing all three forward positions. In nine games, he had four goals and seven assists, but the senior captain’s contributions extend well beyond the points he contributes.
Note from the coach:
“Jared is a tremendous leader, and he leads by example every time he’s on the ice, whether it be practice or in a game,” coach Kevin Vaitis said. “He is always prepared for what he needs to do and works very hard in any situation he encounters.
“We used him in all situations, whether it be center or wing, Power Play or Penalty Kill. Against top lines, he’s out there to score a goal in the last minutes of play. He’ll protect the lead. He’s played in all types of situations. He’s got a lot of speed, plays with a lot of grit. He understands the game and works extremely hard when he’s out there. He will be leading scorer one game and then the following game might have a defensive assignment that he does remarkably well. He’s all about the team.”
About Jared:
Best memory playing high school hockey: Our one-goal victory in the 2018 Flyers Cup over Avon Grove.
Part of the game I enjoy most: Working hard down low in both the offensive and defensive one.
How did you get involved in hockey? My dad made me ice skate when I was five years old, and I never looked back.
My role model is: My Mom

Favorite class: Chemistry
Future plans: Attend college and major in biomedical engineering.
