Reasons for choosing Hofstra: “Once I visited, I knew I wanted to go there. It was just a great campus, a great coaching staff and great academics. I knew instantly it was the perfect fit academically and athletically.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I started playing lacrosse in sixth grade. I fell in love with the sport and joined a summer team (Dukes LC). I continued to play in high school.
“I started going to camps and summer tournaments to get in front of the coaches, and while playing in summer tournaments, I was contacted by several college coaches. That sparked my interest, and I started to investigate different schools.”
Lacrosse coach Mike Murray says: “From day one, when Chase was a freshman, he came in, he was extremely coachable already – I didn’t have to worry about that. What sets him apart is his desire to get better. Every time he comes out to practice, he puts a lot of time in. He’s got a great supportive family. I coached his brother – I wish there was more of them coming down the pike.
“Chase does a very thankless job for us facing off. Not everybody wants to do that. It’s rough, it’s physical, it takes a toll on your body, and it puts our team in a position like no other. We have the best kid in Eastern PA at that. Whenever we go to play a team, everybody knows who Chase is. He’s just terrific. He’s going to a great lacrosse school. It’s historically a top 20 school. I couldn’t be more happy for him.”
Football coach Vince Bedesem says: “Chase has been an instrumental part of our program from the word go. He had two big brothers who also played for us. This is bittersweet. Athletically, I could go on and on and on about Chase and Nick (Gallo). People and family – that’s more important to me than anything I could say about wins and losses and awards. When they walk in these hallways, you can see the pride in them as far as the name on the back and the name on the front. I’m extremely proud of both boys. You are going to be sadly missed, but congratulations on all the things coming in your future.”
