The Hatboro-Horsham Hatters took sole possession of 1 st place in the SOL American Conference with a 7-2 win over host Plymouth Whitemarsh on Wednesday. The Hatters used the power of four extra base hits to help propel them to the victory.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Hatters answered back in the top of the second when Benny Wilson doubled and scored on Anthony Liott’s double. Liott then scored on Bradan Mallon’s triple to give the Hatters a 2-1 lead.

The Hatters extended their lead in the top of the third inning when junior SS Jake Bianchini doubled and then scored on junior catcher Anthony Bruno’s single. After a wild pitch, Bruno then scored on Liott’s single to give the Hatters a 4-1 lead.

In the top of the 5 th inning, the Hatters added on to their lead when Bianchini scored on an error that was committed while he was stealing third base.

The Colonials scored 1 in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 5-2 game, but the Hatters tacked on two more runs in the top of the 7 th on Bruno’s RBI single that scored senior RF Ryley Robinson and Bianchini.

Hatters junior Benny Wilson made the most of the run support that his teammates gave him. He pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, on 3 hits and a walk, while striking out 6. Sophomore closer Jimmy Tooley recorded the final out for the Hatters.

The win improved the Hatters to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the SOL American.
