Allison Goodman – Cairn University (Softball)
Major: Pre-Medicine
Reasons for choosing Cairn: “I received an amazing opportunity to play the sport that I love at a college with a very welcoming environment, that also provides the chance to get the best education possible for me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “The progression for me playing softball started with me deciding that I actually wanted to play at such a high level. I played my entire life growing up, and when I got offered to play at Cairn University, it was like a dream come true to play at such a level.
“I started thinking about playing in college around sophomore year when I had noticed some of my older teammates committing and knew that I was going to do that one day. The process started by me reaching out to colleges that I was interested in and they would come out to watch me. Over time, the coach at Cairn University and I just decided that the school would be a great fit for me.”
Coach Dan Schram says: “Allison Goodman has played for the Owls for four years at third base. She has been a source of strength to the program, always brings a good attitude and is a born leader. She had to really bust up the ranks. She played with a senior-heavy team early in her career, but the greatest thing about her is her toughness.
“She’s a monster hitter and she’s a very good defensive player at third base. She can play so dangerously close to a batter for a bunt play. She’s fearless. She never gets too low, she never gets too high. She just stays right in the middle all the time. Her leadership skills have been tremendous. She will be sorely missed when she leaves this year, not to mention – she comes from a great family.”
