“Both kids were three-year varsity players, and they were part of a great senior class,” coach Mike Strayline said. “They’ve had great careers at CB South. They’re both academically strong kids also. They’re both remarkable kids.”

Angus Ballentine – Widener University (Lacrosse)
Major:
Communications/Media
Final list of colleges:  Widener, York, Stockton
Reasons for choosing Widener:  “When I went on my overnight there, the team was really cool and all together. I liked the team chemistry they had, and I wanted to be a part of it.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “Since sophomore year, I knew I wanted to play lacrosse in college. Junior and senior year it was just visiting colleges and having that whole experience. I think I always knew I wanted to pursue it.”
Coach Mike Strayline says:  “Angus was a two-year captain and was one of our best midfielders. He really controlled the game, really controlled the flow. He could go both ways - play defense and offense. He was a ground ball guy. He did everything on that midfield unit.”

Ryan Sphar – Emerson College (Lacrosse)
Major:
Marketing/Communications
Final list of colleges:  Emerson, Michigan State, Temple
Reasons for choosing Emerson:  “I visited the campus and really liked it. I liked the way they teach their classes and the emphasis they have on up-to-date technology. Obviously, I have a chance to play there. I wouldn’t have been playing at my other schools. I thought it would be a great opportunity to further my academic and athletic interests.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about playing sophomore year, and I started doing camps. I actually connected to Emerson through Vassar College – I went to one of their prospect days and met the coach of Emerson there. He was coach for my scrimmages. I realized Vassar was a little bit too hard to get into, so it actually worked out really well. Emerson is rebuilding its program right now, so it offers me a really good chance for me to come in and start playing right away.”
Coach Mike Strayline says:  “Ryan was an LSM on defense and did a lot on face-offs. He helped our defense, talked and communicated and played very well with that leadership. Both guys are outstanding kids.”
