On Thursday, May 23, 2019, Pennridge seniors Austin Bishop, Christopher Feralio, Jonathan Post & Zak Kantor were recognized for committing to continue their football careers at the collegiate level. Check back for photos of the event.
“We had four guys sign with Chris Feralio, linebacker, Zak Kantor, quarterback, both going to Widener University, and Austin Bishop, D-tackle, going to Thaddeus Stevens Technical College, and Jonathan Post, tight end, going to the University of New Hampshire,” coach Cody Muller said. “Those four guys are tremendous leaders that played a lot football at Pennridge and did a lot of great things on and off the field, so I’m really looking forward as a coach and just as a fan of theirs to see what they do at college and how great they can be in the near future.
Austin Bishop – Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology (Football)
Major: Welding Metal Fabrication
Reasons for choosing Thaddeus Stevens: “It’s a good welding school.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “Voted first team defensive tackle in our league.”
Coach Cody Muller says: “Austin Bishop was a defensive tackle, a returning starter and another guy that was a big, strong kid who really never thought about college until the offseason going into the fall. When I talked to Austin and mentioned college, he wanted to look more toward the technical side of things and maybe enter the workforce right away. Once we started talking about the possibility of a technical school like Thaddeus Stevens, it kind of piqued his interest, and it became the best of both worlds for him because he’s going to be able to study welding and continue with what he had been doing at Upper Bucks Technical School and also be able to play football in his time there. I know he’s really excited, and I’m really excited for him and the opportunity he’s going to have to do that.”

Christopher Feralio – Widener University (Football)
Major: Criminal Justice
Reasons for choosing Widener: “I felt I fit with what the coaches wanted, and I really like their academics.”
What was the progression that led you to playing football at the collegiate level? “My family pushed me to be active, and I really enjoy the sport of football.”
Coach Cody Muller says: “Chris Feralio played linebacker and was one of our captains this year. He transferred in two years ago from Bishop McDevitt High School. Chris was a guy that stepped up and played a lot of football for us on defense. He was one of our defensive leaders this year, a guy that would always bring a lot of energy to practice and a lot of energy to the games. He was very smart on the football field and made a lot of plays and did a lot of good things for us. I’m really proud of Chris and him moving on to the next level and having the opportunity play linebacker at Widener University.”

Zak Kantor – Widener University (Football)
Major: Accounting
Reasons for choosing Widener: “I believe it sets me up to succeed.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “Family and friends.”
Coach Cody Muller says: “Zak Kantor was our quarterback and is also going to Widener University. Zak is another guy that stepped up. He was a captain for us this year and was a leader on and off the field. Zak took control of the offense and did a lot of great things. He set a lot of records here at Pennridge High School and became a very, very good football player for us. He’s going to Widener to play quarterback. They’re looking at him to be a guy that can come in and play a lot of football right away because he’s a very talented kid, a very good athlete and a very smart kid as well.”

Reasons for choosing New Hampshire: “It’s a great school with a great team, and I felt right at home my first visit.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “(My) passion and love for the game.”
Coach Cody Muller says: “Jonathan Post played tight end/wide receiver for us. Jon set the receiving touchdown record for us in just one season for Pennridge. He didn’t play football his junior year – he took a year off to just focus on basketball. He came back to us in February right when I was hired as a coach, and right away, Jon commanded the attention of his peers and also became a leader of this team. He had a breakout year for us, and he has the opportunity to play at my alma mater, which I’m more than ecstatic about, but I know it’s a great fit for him. Once it boiled down to what he was looking for in a college and the level of football he’s going to play – he’s going to be playing at an FCS institution, Division 1-AA. Jon is going to be doing a lot of great things, and we’re looking forward to seeing his future there as well.”
