Mitchell Race – Alvernia University (Soccer)

Major: Athletic Training

Final list of colleges: Alvernia, Jefferson, King’s, Cabrini

Reasons for choosing Alvernia: “I chose Alvernia because of their five-year master’s program in athletic training.”

Favorite high school sports memory: “Getting the tying assist against Pennridge.”

Coach Matt Benner says: “Mitch had a real presence back there for us. He was very, very loud communicating to all of his defenders. He played the game with a lot of passion and a lot of heart. He took it very personally – he wanted to win, he wanted to do well and show for himself. I knew right from the start when he came in as a freshman that he had goals to play at the next level and wanted to make a real impact at the varsity level along the way. He was our goalie for three years. He started as a sophomore. Each year that went by, he got better with his command in the box and his shot stopping. He worked hard to work on his distribution as well. He was a really, really good presence and just got better with each passing year. He’ll do great when he goes off to Alvernia.”
