Jeff Royall – Lycoming College (Lacrosse)
Major: Criminology
Final list of colleges: Lycoming, Stevenson
Reasons for choosing Lycoming: “Small school with a great lacrosse program.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “Freshman year the coach for lacrosse contacted me, and they recruited me my junior year.”
Coach Jay Donis says: “This is only the second year of varsity play for the Quakertown lacrosse team, and yet, Jeff Royall got a four-year plaque. What that means is that Jeff has been around playing for a while, and what we need to do as a team is grow. Jeff is one of those guys who bridged over from club to varsity, playing great, recruiting guys along the way and bringing in new talent. Also, one of the important things for a new team like us was taking younger guys under his wing. He was doing that in the winter workouts, he was doing that during practice in his spare time, always helping the younger guys learn. Jeff is certainly one of those guys they can learn a lot from. This year he had 29 goals and nine assists, which means he contributed to about 34 percent of the goals scored for our team this year, so obviously, he was a big contributor. We’ve only had a varsity team for two years, but Jeff is the career leading scorer for Quakertown. I hope that’s a record that falls quickly, so we have more guys coming up that are playing well. It also signifies that Jeff had a lot of accomplishments during his time hear even though it was only varsity for two years. If we had varsity when he was a freshman, I’m sure he would have been playing varsity as a freshman. Jeff has a great stick. He worked his way to being captain during the year, and he spent a lot of time helping the rest of the team grow. That’s one of the big lessons that we came through with this season, and Jeff’s a big part of that. I wish him the best at Lycoming. I looked up some of their stats, and they have a couple of attackers graduating, so I expect Jeff to find a spot there pretty quickly and hopefully do well at the college level. He has all the tools for it, and I know the boys’ lacrosse team thanks him for his contributions this year.”
