Pennsbury High School 2019 Field Hockey Season Preview
Head coach Traci Curtis will begin her first year at the helm of Pennsbury field hockey after a six-year coaching stint at Charles Boehm Middle School in the same district. Curtis and her staff, assistant varsity coach Aly Mallon, and head JV coach Brittany Sheenan, are excited to work as a united force to build Pennsbury’s program from the inside out.
Last year Pennsbury squeaked into the first round of playoffs, losing 1-0 to rival, Neshaminy, who Pennsbury met for the third time. The triple threat of Maya Geller (University of Pennsylvania), Anna Sharp (Davidson), and Sammie Hackman (La Salle) will be greatly missed on offense; however, those spots will be filled with a diverse collection of talent across grade levels.
Key returners for the Falcons include senior Keira Korzeb (goalie), senior Casey Glynn (defense), junior Kayli Williams (offense), and junior Sophia Hitchingham in the midfield. Seniors Korzeb, Glynn, Celia Dolan, Julianna Martin, Nicole Joniak, Cindy Budzinski, and Sammie Tosh will guide the ship and serve as the groundbreakers for the future direction of PHS field hockey.
Others to watch include freshman Jaclyn Gorgo (offense), and freshman Molly Murray, in the midfield. Curtis and crew will work this season to put together a strong defensive unit while taking great care in creating an offense that is quick, smart, and able to finish. Field hockey IQ, independence, and read & react playing will be the focus.
Pennsbury’s 2019 field hockey team will strive to work toward betterment of their whole selves and finish the season an improved version of who they are in as many facets of their lives as possible.
