Notes: CB South's defense and goalkeeper had an excellent second half as North Penn maintained possession of the ball and had numerous scoring opportunities as they were playing from behind. CB South made the most of their offensive opportunities in the first half as North Penn had a slow start to the game. The Knights picked up their play in the latter end of the first half and dominated much of the second half however it was too little too late against a tough and well coached CB South squad. Megan Albert had a good game for the Knights as she came up with some big stops defensively and put in the lone goal for North Penn on an offensive penalty corner (assist Erin O’Donnell).

CB South won an important game against a strong North Penn team. The last time we played North Penn we were unable to draw a corner and only had 2 shots on goal. While we didn't have many more chances today, we did make the most of those opportunities when sophomore Erin Smith scored on a feed from sophomore Anna Shirley and when junior Braylee Webb scored on a breakaway. Both teams played strong defense despite missing some key players. CB South lost sophomore Julia Cooper earlier in the year and then lost junior Sophia Wasyliw to an ankle injury. Both players led the team in goals at the time of their injuries.
Pat Toner: I am so proud of this team for showing resilience in the face of adversity. After losing Julia and Sophia, we needed to completely switch our lineup in an attempt to match up against a team that dominated us in our last game with them. While the entire team played well, several people had very strong games. Junior Alyssa Endrick was asked to play a completely new position and did a fantastic job of re-defending and pressuring the ball. She also had several beautiful feeds that led to corners. GK Jillian Heilig made several key saves, especially at the end of the game, and the entire defense, anchored by Anna Gillard, kept a strong North Penn offense off the board in the second half. Congrats to both teams on a hard-fought game. We look forward to having Sophia Wasyliw back next week and wish the injured players from both CB South and North Penn a speedy recovery!
