Sorrell Long, Senior, Hatboro-Horsham
Note from the coach:

“Sorrell was one of the first girls I met when I came to Hatboro-Horsham, and I knew from the moment I met her and the way she carries herself that she’d be an amazing leader,” coach Dipi Bhaya said. “It was so nice to see her be a leader on the field and off the field. She is a coach’s dream because she works hard and gives 112 percent every single practice, in every single game, in every drill and every run. Everything she does – even if she makes a mistake, even if she goes the wrong way, she still goes hard, 112 percent. What else can you ask for from a kid?

“She will outwork people, and she’s got a heart as big as anything. She helped carry our team to a strong season. It might not have reflected in the wins and losses, but it was big growth from when I first got here to now believing in themselves. Sorrell is my voice on the field. She is the first person I go to for offense, the first person I go to for defense, the first person I count on to get things going. I could always count of Sorrell to get the team going and moving. She’s just a pure role model to the younger kids, and she will definitely be missed. I’m just glad I had the pleasure of coaching her before she goes off to college.”

About Sorrell:
Best memory playing field hockey: First night playing under the lights my freshman year in a varsity game.
Part of the game I enjoy the most:  Being competitive and being able to play with all of my teammates to celebrate a win.
How did you get involved in hockey? I didn’t make the soccer team in middle school, so I tried out for the field hockey team and loved it.
My role model is: My dad because he pushes me to be my best every day and every game.
Music on mobile device: I love country music because I grew up on a farm.
Favorite food:  Chicken tenders and fries
Favorite class:  Kinesiology
Future plans: Continue playing field hockey at Lebanon Valley College with an Exercise Science degree.

Four people – dead or alive – I’d invite to a dinner party: My mom, my dad, Michael Scott and Michelle Obama.

Hannah Deal, Senior, Hatboro-Horsham

Note from the coach:

“Hannah is an amazing person,” coach Dipi Bhaya said. “She definitely is the true definition of a team player. She will do anything for her teammates, anything for her coaches. She will do anything to try and help us get to the next level, whether it’s on the field or off the field, just by her energy, by her dedication, by everything she does. I came in and I moved everybody around to different positions, so we were trying to find the best place for Hannah. What I really enjoyed is that it didn’t matter where I put Hannah – she went in with a positive attitude. She’s a hard worker and did anything she could to play anywhere at anytime, no matter how many minutes. That’s a wonderful trait to have. With everything she faced this senior year with a new coach coming in and changing her positions – she was able to handle adversity and still do it with a positive attitude and still was a pleasure to coach. I know that’s going to serve her well in her career as she moves forward in life.”

About Hannah:

Best memory playing field hockey: Team bonding when we go to Chick-Fil-A then our football games.
Part of the game I enjoy the most:  The spirit my teammates and I have on and off the field.
How did you get involved in hockey? In middle school, we played field hockey in gym class, and it was fun, so I thought I’d try it out.
My role model is:  Ellen DeGeneres.
Music on mobile device: All genres.
Favorite food:  Chicken Parmesan
Favorite class:  Biology
Future plans: Attend a small college and major in biology. Also, play club field hockey!

Four people – dead or alive – I’d invite to a dinner party: My great-grandmother, my Priest Monsignor Corley, Ellen DeGeneres and DeSean Jackson.

Lydia Casey, Senior Tri-Captain, Upper Dublin

Note from the coach:

“Lydia has been a great asset to the Upper Dublin field hockey program for the past four years,” coach Heather Boyer said. “She is fierce; the type of player that every coach wants on her/his team because she plays hard, is passionate and competitive, and will give 110% each time she is on the field.  Whether on the forward line or in the midfield, offensive corner striker or defensive corner player, Lydia has demonstrated great versatility and a willingness to do what is best for the team. That is something which is truly admirable and it sets a great example for our younger players to follow.”

About Lydia:

Best memory playing field hockey:  My best memory playing field hockey was beating Springfield last year in a night game. It was a huge game for us because it was their senior night and they had beaten us the previous year. We were able to rise up and play really well as a team and dominate the field.

Part of the game I enjoy the most: The part of the game that I enjoy the most is definitely the team aspect. The rush of making a good play, scoring a goal and celebrating a win with a team is like no other feeling and I am so grateful to be a part of something that awesome and to be able to experience these moments with other people. Our team chemistry is so special and the support we give each other is one you can't get from any other sport.

How did you get involved in hockey? I originally got involved in hockey in third grade, but I wasn't a huge fan.  I came back to the sport in middle school, and fell in love with it and have been playing ever since.

My role model is:  Definitely my sister, Madeleine. She graduated last year and played hockey during her career in high school too. We constantly pushed each other to get better and loved to compete against each other. I think she has shaped a lot of who I am as a player.

Music on mobile device:  My music is all over the place. I am usually listening to Post Malone, he's my all-time favorite, but I also really enjoy 50s music and country.

Favorite food: Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets with Chick-fil-A sauce, of course.

Favorite class:  History. I find a lot of the things we learn about very interesting, especially American history.

Future plans:  As of right now, I am not too sure what my future plans are. I plan to attend college, but I am going in as undeclared in hopes of finding the right career path when I get there.

Four people – dead or alive - I would invite to a dinner party:  Post Malone, Frank Sinatra, Carson Wentz, and Thomas Rhett.
