PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Sterling Limo Players of the Week
Jack Fallon, Central Bucks West – The senior running back ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns, but it was his catch for the ages on a short pass that saw him shed would-be tacklers who had him in the grasp, taking it 43 yards to set up his nine-yard touchdown run that was the game-winner in Central Bucks West’s 27-26 win over North Penn. On defense, the senior safety forced three fumbles and had an interception.
Coach Rob Rowan says: “Jack did what Jack does. Three forced fumbles, one interception, two TD’s, 150-plus total yards on offense. All of that on top of a game-changing play that was made of just pure grit and determination. He’s as dynamic, tough and smart of a player I have ever been around, and with all of that, he’s a better person. He’s humble, a great teammate and shows up to work every day with a desire to get better. When one of your leaders operates that way, it casts a ripple effect throught the rest of the program and becomes contagious. There are not enough good things I can say about him.”
Michael Smigley, Central Bucks East – The senior defensive back/wide receiver/kicker had a major impact in Central Bucks East’s 16-14 win over Central Bucks South, a win kept the Patriots in the hunt for a district berth. Smigley kicked a 45-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter that stood up as the winning points. He threw a 37-yard touchdown pass and rushed three times for 19 yards. He led the team with nine tackles and an interception on defense. Smigley also changed field position with his punts that included a long of 53 yards and kickoffs (he had one touchback).”
Coach John Donnelly says: “I don't recall in recent memory another player of ours having such an impact in all three phases of the game other than Smigley. He came up big in a really big game for us. He has been steady, tough, and super productive for his team all year long. I think he is one of the best kickers/punters in the state with multiple FG's over 40 yards and a punt of 66 yards this season.”
Sterling Limo Offensive Players of the Week
Andrick Wesh, Abington – The senior running back had a monster night running the football, finishing with 251 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries in Abington’s 51-27 win over Harry S Truman.
Coach Kevin Conlin says: “Andrick is the hardest worker in our program. He’s a kid who’s never missed a workout, he’s a kid who’s played for us for four years. He was a special teams kid the first two years, got spot duty when Darryl Davis-McNeil was our main running back. Last year we thought Andrick would take that over, and he really didn’t. It’s a credit to him because he just kept plugging away, he kept working, working, working and became one of the most explosive players in the area right now. He’s taking 60-70 yards run, and he’s outrunning some of these teams that have really fast kids, and it’s really impressive. It makes it very easy for me. It makes us all look good.”
Brody McAndrew & Ian Sheehan, Neshaminy – The seniors duo was all but unstoppable in Neshaminy’s 34-13 win over Bensalem. McAndrew completed 18-of-23 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns and now has thrown for 1,559 yards and 20 touchdowns. Sheehan, who had 13 receptions for 174 yards and four touchdowns, surpassed the 1,000-yard mark and has 1,093 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is averaging 20.2 yards a catch.
Coach Steve Wilmot says: "The combination of McAndrew to Sheehan saw another productive week last week against Bensalem. The two players continue to work well together and find the end zone consistently. They are fun to watch."
Sterling Limo Defensive Player of the Week
Luke Pollock, Souderton – The sophomore linebacker came off the bench to lead the team with 13 tackles (two tackles for loss) in Souderton’s 41-0 win over Council Rock North.
Coach Ed Gallagher says: “Luke Pollock has earned more and more playing time at linebacker as the season has progressed. Although only a sophomore, he seems to be involved in most plays whenever he's on the field. He was in on 13 tackles last Friday, which is quite impressive since he didn't enter the game on defense until the second quarter.”
Sterling Limo Special Teams Players of the Week
Javon Neely, Abington – The Ghosts’ speedster blocked a punt on the three-yard line and also delivered key tackles on special teams in Abington’s 51-27 win over Harry S Truman.
Coach Kevin Conlin says: “Javon had a tremendous game for us on special teams. On top of his blocked punt to give our offense the ball on our three-yard line, he made three spectacular tackles on kickoffs versus a team like Truman that can take any kickoff for a touchdown. Those plays were real momentum changers for us as a team.”
Andrew Cassidy, Central Bucks East – The senior captain was third on the team in tackles and had three receptions for 87 yards, but the biggest play he made was blocking a field goal with 12 seconds remaining in regulation to preserve Central Bucks East’s 16-14 victory over Central Bucks South.
Coach John Donnelly says: “Andrew has been a tremendous captain/leader for us this year. He leads through his actions and his words. He is constantly working on his craft and that is why he was in the right place at the right time for his team this past Saturday when the game was on the line.
