PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH GIRLS’ BASKETBALL PREVIEW

Coach:  Dan Dougherty (8th Season)

Assistant coaches:  T.J. DeLucia (8th Season); Bridgette McKnight (6th Season)

Last year’s record:  21-7 (10th in District 1; lost in first round of state tournament), 10 -4 in SOL

Notable losses:  Sydney Kesselman (playing at Cabrini)

  • Kaitlyn Flanagan (10th grade, 2nd team all-conference last season)
  • Anna McTamney (11th grade, 2nd team all-conference last season)
  • Lainey Allen (10th grade, 3rd team all-conference last season)
  • Jordyn Thomas (10th grade, HM all-conference last season)
  • Gabby Cooper (11th grade, returning starter)
  • Lily Belle McGrorty (11th grade, returning varsity player)
  • Ally Zolty (11th grade, returning varsity player)

Strengths/Question Marks:  “We return our starting five from team that made a nice run in districts to qualify for states. Question mark will be how this team handles difficult non-conference games and the weight of expectation.”

Outlook:  “Excited for this group to begin maturing and trying to compete for a conference championship. Have to build on the experience gained from last year, and beware of complacency. Our new crop of ninth graders are going to add some much needed depth to the returning group from last year, we are excited to see them all play together for years to come.”
