COUNCIL ROCK NORTH ROCKS AT PENN MANOR
Council Rock North dominated the Penn Manor Holiday Tournament, crowning four champions in Kyle Hauserman (120-pounds), Luke Lucerne (132), Cam Robinson (152) and Dillon Sheehy (160). Heavyweight Max Harar was a finalist but had to settle for silver. Sammy Hayes (145) captured bronze with a major decision over Garden Spot’s Joshua Groff 9-1, and Blake Sibler was fourth at 195-pounds.
North definitely parties like rock stars when they are on the mat. The fab five of Hauserman, Lucerne, Robinson, Sheehy and Hayes have been joined by their teammates to complete a lineup made of winners. The Indians finished way ahead of a stacked field at Penn Manor High School, amassing 190.5 points posted up and down the lineup. Bethlehem Liberty was second with 152.5 points, and Delaware’s Caravel Academy was third with 142 pts.
North sports a 5-1 dual meet record with last week’s win over Philly Catholic League power Father Judge (44-24), and the Indians will open SOL National Conference action this Wednesday at Harry S Truman. The Indians schedule only gets better after Christmas as they travel to grapple in the prestigious Powerade tourney at Cannon Mac.
Kyle Hauserman shut out New Oxford’s Andrew Christie 4-0 in his finals tilt and looks as good as his #2 AAA State Ranking by PA Power Wrestling. Luke Lucerne back in the line-up at 132-pounds defeated Virginia’s Ethan Hardy (Washington) 5-3 in his final’s match. Lucerne also sits on a #2 PA Power ranking at his weight class. Cam Robinson looks like the man to beat at 152-pounds around the state as he decked Central York’s Tanner Schaller in 3:22 for his Penn Manor title. Robinson is also ranked #2 in the latest PA Power rankings at 152. Dillon Sheehy grabbed gold at Penn Manor with his 6-3 decision over Coby Romjue (Susquehannock) and holds the #14 ranking at 170, but will be considered at 160-pounds in the next set of rankings. Sammy Hayes holds the same ranked position, #14, at 145-pounds.
Council Rock North is clearly a dominant individual tournament team, that has the potential to be the same as a dual team as the season progresses.
