This recognition is sponsored by Bergey’s Inc. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches, and the recipient must be a positive presence on the ice and a credit to the game. Consideration also is given to the student-athlete’s standing in the school and community.

Joey DeMatteo, Senior, Neshaminy High School

A four-year varsity player, Neshaminy’s senior captain is the leader of a Redskin squad that will compete in the SHSHL playoffs. In 15 games this season, DeMatteo, who plays center, has 18 goals and 12 assists for 30 points. He plans to continue his ice hockey career at the collegiate level.

Note from the coach:
Joey has been a tremendous leader for us over the past few seasons - including wearing the C for us this year,” coach Matt DeMateo said. “He constantly works hard and leads by example. He has great hands and a lethal shot, making him a threat in the offensive zone whenever he has the puck. As a center, he also plays a very responsible two-way game and is excellent defensively down low in our zone cutting off plays to the net.”
