Lauren Donofrio – George Mason University (Lacrosse)

Major:  Undecided

Reasons for choosing George Mason:  “I chose George Mason because I have always wanted to continue my lacrosse career in college.  I love the location of the college and the coaching staff is amazing.

What was the progression that led you to playing lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “My cousins played Division I lacrosse in college, and from watching their games, I knew I wanted to play in college. I started the recruiting process in the fall of my junior year from playing in summer tournaments and fall ball tournaments.”

Coach Jamie Kane says:  “I’ve known Lauren since she was in fifth or sixth grade playing for Wisslax. She is very, very, very hardworking. She’s very diligent in the performance of her duties as a captain. Very rarely could you find Lauren fooling around, but that doesn’t mean that she didn’t get along with everyone and always wear a smile. I think one of her best qualities is that everyone on the team knew that Lauren had their backs, no matter what. Because of that, she was really good at communicating an issue to a teammate, whether it would be getting along with other girls on the team or something they’re doing on the field. Lauren is extremely dedicated, and she’s a really nice person too. I would love if my kids would grow up to treat others the way Lauren does, to work as hard in school as Lauren does. She won many awards – a scholar award, and she has been on the radar of the All-American and all-league awards since she started playing. She’s a four-year varsity starter. I’m just happy for her that she gets to play at the Division I level next year, and I know her whole family is committed to her success. She does not take that for granted – she’s very grateful. She’s a good person, and I’m going to miss her.”
