Katelyn Cocco – St. Joseph’s University (Field Hockey)

Major:  Business Management

Final list of colleges:  St. Joe’s, La Salle, Northwestern

Reasons for choosing St. Joe’s:  “The academics are good, the field hockey team is really good, the coaches were really nice, and I loved the campus. Also, I really wanted to stay close to home so my parents can come to my games.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I started playing field hockey in middle school and didn’t know if I really liked it. My sister played in high school, and my parents really wanted me to play. I played, the coach really liked me, so I got put on varsity, and I just fell in love with it. I knew I wanted to play a sport in college, and I just thought it would be a good fit for me.”

Coach Lisa Belz says:  “It is has been such a pleasure coaching Katelyn and watching her develop into an amazing player.  Her speed, stickwork, and scoring abilities made her stand out on the field, but her dedication and leadership made her stand out as an overall player.  Katelyn is hardworking, coachable, and always strives to do her best.  St. Joe's University is very lucky to have her.  Council Rock South will miss Katelyn, but we look forward to watching her excel at the collegiate level.”
