CR South's Berghaier & Gartenmayer to Play Lacrosse at Chestnut Hill

On Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, Council Rock South seniors Kyle Gartenmayer and Brandon Berghaier were recognized for committing to continue their lacrosse careers at Chestnut Hill College. Brandon Berghaier  - Chestnut Hill  (Defense/Lacrosse)

Major:  Secondary Education

Final list of colleges:  Chestnut Hill, Seton Hill, Stevenson, Wingate

Reasons for choosing Chestnut Hill:  “When I went on my visit, I liked the small class setting and love what the coach is doing with the lacrosse program.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “Once I hit the age of 14, I really knew I wanted to play at the collegiate level. When my sophomore season ended, I started to contact schools and took the recruiting process pretty serious.”

Coach Mike Murray says:  “Brandon will bring his size and speed to the D2 level. Another four-year starter at South, he served two years as captain. Brandon’s enthusiasm, stick work and physical play set him apart. He played football and wrestled at South. Brandon keeps developing and his best lacrosse years are in front of him.”

Kyle Gartenmayer - Chestnut Hill (Long Stick Midfielder & Defense/Lacrosse)

Major:  Physical Therapy

Final list of colleges:  Chestnut Hill, High Point University

Reasons for choosing Chestnut Hill:  “They gave me money to play lacrosse, and I felt like it was a good vibe there. I just fit in.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I just wanted to play lacrosse in the college level to make new friends. Playing lacrosse in college was my dream when I was 10 years old. My recruiting process started in seventh grade for lacrosse.”

Coach Mike Murray says:  “Kyle concludes his high school career as a four-year starter and captain. Kyle excelled at track and soccer at South. The Griffins are getting an athletic player with speed, size, great stick work and one of the highest lacrosse IQ’s in South history.”
