CB South’s Hines Reaches Milestone
(Submitted article by Rock Gold Waye-Gaskill)
When Kaitlyn Hines finished her senior year at Central Bucks South, she found herself 27 hits away from her 100th career high school softball hit. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Katie's season ended abruptly.
That’s when the ROCK GOLD WAYE-GASKILL coaching staff and team stepped in. Unbeknownst to Hines, the team was keeping track and was looking forward to celebrating Katie's 100th hit and giving credit where credit is due.
On a hot sunny Sunday afternoon in Carteret NJ at the Bluechip Super 40 Tournament, ROCK was playing Xtreme. Hines started the day needing two hits. In her first at bat, she doubled. In her second plate appearance, Katie ended up drawing a walk. In the third inning, Hines stepped to the plate with runners in scoring position. Even in the count at 2-2, she ripped one up the 5-6 hole to score two runs but more importantly obtain her 100th hit.
Katie Hines is headed to Rowan University in the fall. She will major in Engineering while playing softball for the Profs.
"Rowan is getting a gem,” co-head coach Michelle Kensler said. "Katie is a great player.
"She is a hard-worker and a very bright student. We are happy to have had the opportunity to coach Katie, and we can't wait to see what she does at the next level.”
