Council Rock North Comments
There is no doubt that 2020 is a strange year on many levels, but the most comforting thing I can say is that North- South is still the same as it's always been. This was a very competitive game that swung on two moments of incredible play.
As much of a rivalry as this game is each year we have a lot of respect for the program that Nick and his staff have, we know his players very well and he knows ours and each time we play it's guaranteed that it will be competitve regardless of the situation.
Initially, we had a lot of the ball in the first half but couldn't break them down, and they had some set pieces and long range efforts that we had to deal with. At half time we stressed trying to open the field up, but CRS defended well and created more chances. They got a PK midway through the second half that Grace Needham saved excellently, that gave us a burst of energy for the rest of the game. With less than 10 minutes left Sammy Judge hit a long range effort that crept in under the crossbar for the game winner. We absorbed their pressure after that and maybe could've scored again but for a great save from Sydney Mandel. We are always happy to come out with a victory in this game, I thought our midfield play was excellent today, Sammy Judge was great on the ball, Izzy Linus and Riley Hamilton gave us great minutes next to her and Ella McAleer linked up well in her role up top and really helped us in the final third. With only 10 games on the schedule each one is important and adds more pressure, playing two high intensity games within 48 hours is tough for each team, we have had a solid start but we still have a number of tings we want to tighten up too.
