SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-25-20)

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-14, 25-3, 25-22)

Junior outside hitter Ashleigh Adams and senior outside hitter Mary Baniewicz proved to be a dangerous combination at the net, combining for 26 kills in the Indians’ three-game sweep.

Adams finished the night with 15 kills, six aces, six digs and two assists while Baniewicz had 11 kills, nine digs, four aces and two assists. Seniors setter/libero Mikayla Adams had 17 assists to go along with five kills, three aces, four digs and one block. Also contributing were senior middle hitter Julia Walton (four kills, three aces, one dig), senior opposite hitter Julia Walton (four kills, three aces, one dig), senior middle hitter Sabrina Pasemann (three kills, two blocks, one assist), sophomore opposite Ainsley Jordan (two kills, one dig) and junior setter/defensive specialist Becca Wintjen (nine assists, four digs).

 

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, BENSALEM 0
The visiting Golden Hawks notched a sweep of the Owls.

Katie Rodman led the Hawks’ defense with 12 digs while Edan Kauer added nine digs and five kills. Alissa Helverson also had five kills to go along with one block, and Avery Vaughan had four kills and three blocks. Lili Lauch turned in a strong serving performance.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-9)

The Patriots earned a sweep of the visiting Panthers to notch their second win of the young season.

“This was a great team win again,” coach Kerri Rabberman said. “It really is the best feeling being the gym with these girls watching them play.”

Chloe Mettille had an outstanding serving game with five aces and led the defense with 10 digs. Kaylynn Bryan led the offense with 12 kills and had an impressive hitting percentage at .706. Aimee Wolf and Ava Napoletano also had a great day with seven kills each.

Anna Huchko added two kills while Caroline Eldringhoff also contributed two kills. Kat Montabana had three aces, two kills and four digs. Olivia Bennett also helped out on offense as well. Taryn Zakrzewski, according to Rabberman, had a nice afternoon with one ace, three digs and passing a 2.5. Sophie Mettille added 12 assists, three aces and three digs while Katie Monaghan contributed 15 assists, four aces and two digs.

 

PENNRIDGE 3, SOUDERTON 0

The Lady Rams won in straight sets versus archrival Souderton but couldn’t put a damper on the Indians’ Senior Night.

“It was a tough loss on senior night,” said Souderton coach Cori Watson. “The seniors had an opportunity to showcase their skills, and we honored their contributions to the program over the last four years. We are back to work on Monday before we compete against CB West on Tuesday.”

Pennridge lbero Rileigh Bowen, according to coach Brandon Johnson, set the tone in serve receive and leading the team in digs defensively. Middle Blockers Stella Bultje and Julia Post were the focal point of the offense, leading the Rams . Outside Hitters Lydia Stutzman and Isabella Cooper also played a major role in the team victory. Senior Morgan Leo steadied the Rams serving attack and chipped with major contributions in serve receive and defense.  

For the Indians, Alyssa Reiner had five digs and five kills. Grace Peterson had seven digs and two aces. Nikki Hamilton had five assists and two aces.

The Lady Rams host North Penn on Tuesday in an important conference match-up.

 

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-23)

The Titans closed out an impressive week with their third win in as many matches.

"Tonight was a good win for us to end the week on a solid note,” South coach Kurt Godfrey said. “We battled all night long and were even able to come back in the third set from a pretty big deficit. 

“We were able to slow down North Penn's offense with a really good defensive effort tonight from everyone who was back there.  I am really proud of the way we've started our season."

Junior setter Shannon Rector had 30 assists to go along with four aces, two kills and 11 digs. Junior outside hitter Millie Grove (16 kills, 11 digs) and senior outside hitter Courtney Pohl (12 kills, 11 digs) were double trouble for the Knights. Junior defensive specialist/libero Rian Grant led the defense with 14 digs as well as two aces. Junior defensive specialist/libero Morgan Schaefer added nine digs. Senior middle Dana Durkin had two kills, two blocks and one dig.

 

SOL American

 

UPPER DUBLIN 3, WISSAHICKON 0

The Flying Cardinals won in straight sets, but listening to coach Paul Choi tell it – it wasn’t that easy.

“It was a rough first set, but we started to clean up our serve and pass game for sets two and three,” the Flying Cardinals’ coach said. “We got contributions from the whole team.”

Lauren Price (15 assists, one block, three digs) and Katelyn Gamburg (11 assists, five aces, three digs) split setting duties for UD. Emily Senior led a balanced attack with eight kills, two blocks and one dig. Sophia Sabri also was a force at the net with five kills and two blocks. Anna Faust’s 15 digs led the defense. She also had three aces and one assist.

Also making important contributions for the Cardinals were Lexi Jackubowitz (three kills), Casey Broderick (three kills, three digs), Charlotte Qi (three aces), Erica Stelling (four kills), Maggie Faust (three aces, three kills, six digs) and Sammy Silver (three aces, five digs).

 

HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-22)

The visiting Hatters earned a sweep of the Ghosts in conference play.

For the Ghosts, setter Izzy Reilly dished out 19 assists while Kenya Lucas (11 kills) and Lila Stonehouse (10 kills) led Abington at the net.
