ABINGTON 3, WISSAHICKON 0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-21)

The Ghosts celebrated Senior Day with a sweep of the visiting Trojans.  Coach Dan Marsh paid tribute to his team’s five seniors.

“Ally Rice has been a varsity player for four years and always finds a way to make us better. She has become a great leader and has put her team’s success over her own her whole career,” Marsh said. “Liv Guare is a three-year starter at middle hitter, who has gotten better every year. She really has matured as a player and a person. Her smile makes everyone relax.

“Katherine Rogers suffered a season-ending ACL tear, but she asked to do the scorebook just to be a part of her team. That says all you need to know about her character.

“Sofi Stonehouse is a tremendous person, hard worker, so polite and coachable. She solidified our back row with solid play.

“I’ve known Julia Bruestle a long time. I’d be hard pressed to find a better human being. She never complains, always there for her teammates, works her butt off to make us better every day.  A coach’s dream.”

The underclassmen did their part to make sure the seniors had a good day. Setter Izzy Reilly handed out 26 assists to go with five kills. Kenya Lucas led the Ghosts at the net with 16 kills, and Lila Stonehouse had eight kills.
