The Hatboro-Horsham Hatters clinched the Suburban One League American Conference Championship for the third consecutive season (2018 shared title with PW) with a sweep of the visiting Lions of New Hope Solebury on Wednesday Night, extending their season record to 9-0 with one match remaining.

The Hatters had a fantastic night with team totals of six aces (92 percent serving), 38 kills with a .385 kill percentage, 2.04 passing, five blocks, and 29 digs. Leading the Hatters defensively was senior captain libero Jess Howard with seven digs and an ace. The Hatters offense was executed by senior captain setter Maddy Murphy with 32 assists and three aces. The Hatters had a stunning night at the net led by junior outside hitter Nastya Tsetsko with 17 kills on 27 attempts and zero errors (.630). Sophomore middle hitter Jade Lauzier added nine kills on 16 attempts (.375) and four blocks. Juniors Grace Howard, Ava Santo (.333), and Isabelle Bombas (.429) all added four kills to the mix each. Seniors Jenna Robinson and Angie Ravi were solid on the serving line with two aces a piece and Jenna Robinson boasting a 2.50 passer rating.

"New Hope is a solid serve receive team, we didn't get a whole lot of aces,” HH coach Jon Young said. “We're very happy with how this team performed tonight. Even with losing a bit of control in the second set early we managed to play the game cleanly and mount an impressive comeback in a convincing second and third set win. Although almost every piece of our team played fantastic tonight, we saw outstanding performances from our defensive team made up of Jess Howard, Jenna Robinson, and Sarah Lessig in keeping us in system consistently, our offensive options not limited to but especially in Nastya Tsetsko and Jade Lauzier as well as Maddy Murphy setting a very well orchestrated offense.

“It's been a tough year and we're glad that despite all of the challenges we've been able to play some good volleyball and capture another SOL American title. This team has worked very hard for years and we're glad to see it pay off. Our captains in seniors Jess Howard and Maddy Murphy do a fantastic job in leading both on and off the court. They are a huge part of our success and sometimes don't quite get the appreciation they deserve for how hard they work much like a lot of our athletes. As a coaching staff, we believe that we are happily playing our best volleyball and look forward to our matchup with PW on Friday evening and for the post-season thereafter.”
