Evan Bullotta – University of North Carolina (Lacrosse)

Major: Business

Final list of colleges: UNC, Ohio State, Maryland, Duke, Virginia

Reasons for choosing UNC: “The atmosphere of the campus, the coaches and the players there made me feel at home. It’s also a very good school academically.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “I started playing lacrosse at a very young age, and for as long as I remember, I wanted to play at the highest level possible. Around seventh or eighth grade, I realized I could make that possible, so I joined the very competitive club circuit and went from there. Got lucky, got recruited and made my dream school.”

Coach Bruce Garcia says:  “Evan is one of those student athletes that come along maybe once or twice in a coaching career. When I saw him first in ninth grade – and he’s been in the varsity program ever since, I knew he was going to be an All-American. With last year not having a season, he missed out on that in his junior year. This year there is no reason in the world he shouldn’t get the accolades he has earned, and he has earned them. His ability playing defense, his knowledge of the game – it belies his age.

“Evan is a defenseman, and defense is played with five other players at any given time, so Evan is always offering help, but when it comes to getting back on the ball, he can get from point A to point B like a world class sprinter and not only get there but be in the right position and channel that player in the right direction because his concept of team dynamics is exemplary. His field presence also is at a level of maturity that belies his age. He’s also an outstanding leader, and it shows when he’s on the field.”
