Upper Dublin @ Hatboro-Horsham

In a neighborhood rivalry matchup, the Upper Dublin Girls’ Swimming and Diving Team captured a hard fought victory over the Lady Hatters from Hatboro Horsham. Led by senior co-captains Alanis Andulonis and Molly Braun, the Cardinals got out to a quick start while displaying great depth by placing first and second in the medley relay. Braun continued her strong start from the medley (backstroke) winning both of her individual events, the 100 butterfly (57.19) which set a new pool record and 100 backstroke (1:03.80). Junior Korinna Pesti anchored the winning medley relay and followed that swim with a first place finish in the 50 freestyle (24.94).
Junior Meghan DiMartile, and sophomore Emma McCarthy both made a significant impact by winning their individual events, the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke respectively. After the Lady Hatters set their own pool record in the 200 freestyle relay (1:40.66), the Cardinals finished the meet even stronger than they started by winning the 400 freestyle relay while breaking another pool record by over eight seconds (3:35.37). The relay included Braun, Pesti, DiMartile, and sophomore Maya Gondek. After the swimming events, Junior Lexi Brown captured first in diving to help secure the victory.
After the meet, UD captain Braun stated, “We went into the meet knowing this was one of our toughest matchups, so we all had to step up and swim our fastest. Everyone did such an amazing job. This is always a fun meet because there are great races, and some of us even got the chance to swim against our friends from our club team.”
Both teams return to action next Tuesday when the Hatters host Abington and the Lady Cards host Quakertown.
