COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 2, NORTH PENN 1 (OT)

James Diiulio turned a Brennen Wright pass into a goal for the game-winner 1:29 into the first overtime, propelling the Golden Hawks to the dramatic win in Friday’s classic SHSHL battle.

In the opening period, Diiulio put the Golden Hawks on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal. That 1-0 lead stood until 10 minutes into the second period when Nolan O’Toole found the net with a power play goal, using assists from Ryan Kaufhold and Jeromy Porubski.

Both goalies – North Penn’s Jon Boyles and Rock South’s Jimmy Sweeney – had 22 saves. Sweeney earned the win between the pipes.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 4, UPPER DUBLIN 3

The Patriots trailed 3-1 heading into the final period when they erupted for three unanswered goals to eke out the come-from-behind non-league win.

Upper Dublin’s Owen Serafin scored the only goal of the first period, and Chris Mangiacapre – who had a hand in three goals - evened the score with a short-handed goal 49 seconds into the second period. Serafin connected on back-to-back goals – the first one short-handed – to send the Cardinals into the final period with the 3-1 advantage.

Stephen DiRugeris used assists from Mangiacapre and Tyler Godown to score a power play goal nine minutes into the final period. Less than a minute later, Mangiacapre’s power play goal with a Connor Keiser assist knotted the score. Adam Bostock connected on the game-winner 10:32 into the period, and in a span of 90 seconds, the Patriots erased a two-goal deficit to earn the win.

CB East goalie Matt Mangiacapre was credited with 22 saves in a winning effort.

HARRY S TRUMAN 7, WILLIAM TENNENT 2

Jeremy McCartney scored two goals and assisted on two others. His four-point game led the Tigers to the big win. Brent McGoldrick (three assists) and James Gallagher (one goal/two assists) both had three-point games.

Truman’s Aidan Kinniry (Brent McGoldrick/ Justin Reid assists) scored the only goal of the opening period.

The Tigers reeled off three straight goals in the opening seven minutes of the second period to go on top 4-0, using single goals from John Huhn (Patrick Shearn assist), Julian Reid and James Gallagher (McCartney/Eric Stofan assists). Tennent cut the Tigers’ lead in half, thanks to goals by Nate Silberman (Justin Carrelli/Matthew Castan assists) and Carrelli (Zach Devor assist).

The Tigers sealed the Panthers’ fate with three more goals. Demian Ciarfardoni scored with assists from McCartney and Gallagher, and McCartney scored back-to-back goals – the first with a McGoldrick assist and the second with assists from McGoldrick and Gallagher.

Connor Pilla recorded 33 saves to earn the win in goal for the Tigers.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 5, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2

Jimmy Sweeney was a difference maker in goal for the Golden Hawks, who were outshot 40-27 by the Patriots. Sweeney negated that advantage with 38 saves.

After a scoreless opening period, Blaize Pepe turned a pass from Chase Towsky into a goal 27 seconds into the second period. East’s Stephen DiRugeris (Connor Keiser assist) scored the equalizer three minutes later, and the two teams entered the final period deadlocked 1-1.

Rock South’s Jeremy Purcell scored with a Pepe assist just over a minute into the third period. Again, East had an answer. This time it was Chris Mangiacapre scoring with assists from Adam Bostock and Tyler Godown. James Diiulio scored the go-ahead goal with assists from Purcell and Kevin Koles. Back-to-back Purcell goals gave the Hawks their final margin of victory.
