Michael Fath – Carnegie Mellon University (Football)

Major: Finance

Final list of colleges:  Carnegie Mellon, Lafayette, MIT, Johns Hopkins, Amherst College

Reasons for choosing Carnegie Mellon:  “Incredible business school and academic resources as well as great football coaches and historic winning culture.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about playing football in college during my freshman year of high school. After making the varsity team and being named a starter on both sides of the ball as a freshman, I realized that football could be something that I could be very good at. The recruiting process didn’t start for me until the winter of my sophomore year. My dad and I reached out to hundreds of coaches and sent my personal academic and athletic achievements as well as game film.”

Coach Bruce Fleming says:  “Michael Fath is a player I got to know his freshman year when he joined the football team. Michael is a tremendous athlete on the football field and a great student in the classroom. Michael has been a leader on and off the field for this football team for four years, and his strength on the offensive and defensive line has shown every single year as he got better and better and culminating with the great senior season he had this year.

“A memorable play with Michael came during his sophomore year in our game against Hatboro-Horsham where we drove down the field and Michael – at his guard position – helped us score a touchdown. On that particular play, Michael didn’t know that he broke his leg, but when we were able to get the ball again, he went back out there not knowing he had a broken leg and played five more snaps that allowed us to score again. At that moment, he realized that he just couldn’t put any more pressure on his leg, but the toughness to gut out the pain he was in to help his team score two touchdowns showed what I need to see in a football player, especially in an offensive lineman like Michael Fath. I’m glad to see Michael get the opportunity to continue his football career at Carnegie Mellon, a great institution academically and a good football institution that fits Michael’s skill set and intellect. I’m proud of you, Mike, best of luck as you continue you your football career and academic career at Carnegie Mellon in their business program.”

Kevin Pineda – Monmouth University (Football)

Major: Business

Reasons for choosing Monmouth:  “Amazing coaching staff, updated facilities, and I’m confident they will help me pursue my dream.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level?  “The recruiting process started mid-junior year. I started thinking about playing in college the end of my sophomore year when I realized I had the talent to do so.”

Coach Bruce Fleming says:  “I had the pleasure of coaching Kevin here at Wissahickon when he transferred in 2019. When I met Kevin, I realized he was a big strong kid, and I was really interested to see how he would turn out on the football field. Once he was on the football field, I saw a kid that was a leader physically and vocally to the rest of the team. His leadership showed in a play during our game against Upper Moreland in that 2019 season when he blocked his player all the way to the sideline where the player was standing next to me. At that moment, I realized Kevin had the intensity needed to compete at the highest level of college football. I’m happy that Kevin will get that opportunity to continue his academic and athletic career at Monmouth University where he will continue to develop as a leader on and off the football field. Good luck, Kevin, and congratulations.”
