Sam Becker – Lafayette College (Swimming)
Major: Biochemistry
Final list of colleges: Lafayette, WPI, The Catholic University of America
Reasons for selecting Lafayette: “It was a combination of academics, athletics, and the environment at Lafayette. I knew I wanted an academically challenging school that would also allow me to swim at a high level and also had tons of team spirit."
What was the progression that led you to competing in swimming at the collegiate level? “Growing up I played just about every sport out there and really just enjoyed competing. It was not until high school when I decided to really commit myself to swimming. From that point forward, I just threw myself into my training and everything eventually fell into place."
Coach Karney Cacciavillano-MeNear says: “Sam is an awesome kid. She never got a B in her life - she’s an Academic All-American. She’s just a great kid, and she worked hard to get where she got. She never missed a practice. She hit a plateau for a little bit, but she kept pushing through it. She’s a phenomenal worker, she’s consistent. She’s been a captain for three years. What can you say about her? Lafayette is academically perfect for her because it’s a very strong academic institution.”
