On Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, Pennridge seniors Lexi Dinsmore and Alexis Gilbert were recognized for committing to continue their field hockey careers at the collegiate level.
Lexi Dinsmore – Widener University (Field Hockey)
Major: Biology/Physical Therapy
Reasons for choosing Widener: “I chose Widener because I loved the campus, the coaches and the team. I wanted a smaller campus with small class sizes, and Widener provides that. Widener also offers the major for my career path.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level? “I have played field hockey since I was little, and a chance to play four more years in college was a no brainer. I love the sport and all the people it let me meet, so I knew I wanted to play in college.”
Coach Becky Spahr says: “Lexi Dinsmore was a defender for us, and she’s going to Widener. She is one of the best defenders I’ve ever coached. She has lots of hockey knowledge, and she’s improved every year. She’s a great leader from the backfield and really knows how to organize our defense. She’s going to do a great job in college, and I’m really excited about what she’ll do at Widener.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level? “What led me to play at this level was the amount of love I received from both the coach and girls on the team. They made me feel welcomed, and I knew that’s the team I want to be a part of.”
Coach Becky Spahr says: “Alexis Gilbert is going to Lancaster Bible College. She is one of the best teammates I’ve ever had a part of Pennridge field hockey. She is also a really versatile player and played forward and midfield for our team. She has grown a lot over the past season and really learned how to use her skills wisely and also became a lot stronger of a leader for us. She’ll do a great job at Lancaster Bible College.”
