#8 PENNCREST 5, #9 PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 1
The Colonials saw their successful season come to an end in Monday’s opening round Flyers Cup game at Ice Line. Penncrest, the fifth place team out of the 11-team Central League, led wire to wire although the Colonials were within striking distance much of the game.
The Lions opened up a 2-0 lead after one period, thanks to goals by Van Evans and Ryan Anderson, but the Colonials cut that lead in half when Conlan Carpenter scored with an Isaac Mishkin assist 12:46 into the second period. Kain Walker – whose one-goal, four-assist effort led the Lions – got that goal back in the closing minutes of the period, sending Penncrest into the final period with a 3-1 lead.
Goals by Tyler Conn and Shane Kokoska gave the Lions their final margin of victory.
Penncrest goalie Gannon Walker was close to perfect in goal, turning away 26 of 27 shots he faced.
