The Abington linksters defeated Harry S. Truman today on the scorched earth
of Huntingdon Valley Country Club's Centennial Nine (par 35) by the score
209 to 269. Rich "Thorpedo" Thorpe lead the assault with a 39, and Nick
Coyle bounced back into form with a 41. Kris Carr and Jake Shur (42) flanked
the Panthers while Brandon Caine (45) forced a surrender. The scores of
Chris Gerhardt (47), Jordan Leibowitz (48), and Vince Espinoza (49) would be
scuttled in a perfect world, but at this point of the season with the
Suburban One Tournament rapidly approaching, a take-no-prisioners approach
must be adopted. The win improves the Ghosts' record to 12-1 on the season
and provides a bit of momentum when the battle for the SOL National
Conference escalates next week, the final week of the regular season.
