SOL National Conference
BENSALEM 3, ABINGTON 1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-23, 25-21)
The Owls notched their seventh win in eight matches.
Om Patel, according to coach Tim Linehan, had a great night for the Owls with nine kills and two blocks. Dylan Young (14 kills, nine digs) and Tyler Hoang (11 kills, two aces, seven digs) also played well up front. Harsh Shah had a strong game defensively with 16 digs. Adam Nevrotski (four kills, three blocks) and Louis Rodriguez (five kills) made big plays out of the middle. Dhruv Patel had 40 assists and a late game-changing dig in the fourth set. The Owls improved to 7-1 on the season.
The Ghosts were led defensively with 15 blocks coming from the combined efforts of Bryce Lexow, Sebastian Skenderi, Myles Winegrad and Zach Miller. Sean Dougherty led the Ghosts with 30 digs. Gannon McGinley, Sam Miller, Leo Presta and Myles Winegrad added five digs each. Lexow led the Ghosts offensively with seven kills. Miller had six kills and Winegrad, five kills.
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, PENNSBURY 1 (25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 25-18)
The Indians maintained a share of the top spot in the conference with a four-set win over their neighboring rival.
Key performers for the Indians were Justin Burns (eight kills, three aces, 11 digs), Brady Klein (two aces, nine kills, eight digs), Martin Nguyen (one kill, 17 digs), Geoffrey Sandhannamudi (10 assists, seven digs), Dylan Vanschaick (two aces, 17 assists, four digs) and Nick Alleborn (three kills, two blocks).
SOL American Conference
SOUDERTON 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-20)
The visiting Indians earned a sweep of their neighboring rival.
“It was a great team win going into a very difficult stretch of the season,” coach Luke Pinto said. “We hope to build on the great teamwork as we continue to face tough and very skilled opponents.”
Aidan Wunderly led the Indians with nine kills, three aces and six blocks. Andrew Brown had five kills, six aces and three blocks, and Grant Anderson contributed four kills. Tate Kreiser had seven digs.
PENNRIDGE 3, QUAKERTOWN 1 (25-17, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21)
Ryan Benscoter turned in another stellar outing at the net for the Rams, finishing with 25 kills to go along with six digs and three aces.
Tyler Johnson (eight kills, three blocks) and Bryce Muller (seven kills) also made important contributions at the net. Skyler Ammon led the Rams service game with five aces. Thomas McKinney had two kills, two blocks and six digs, and Dan Detweiler had eight digs. Setter Riley Kodidek had 40 assists and four aces for the Rams, who improved to 6-2 on the season.
For the Panthers, Micah Reinford had six kills, one block, one ace and seven digs. Jared Leatherman had five kills and eight digs, Zander Marks added four kills, four blocks, one ace and six digs, and Jeff Sinsel had three kills and two digs. Setter Cody Steiert had 18 assists, two kills, two blocks, one ace and three digs. Kurt Glaeser had five digs, and Brett Musselman, one kills.
Non-league
UPPER DUBLIN 3, LA SALLE 1 (25-17, 18-25, 25-22, 25-18)
The Flying Cardinals received some impressive performances in their non-league win over the Explorers.
“(We got) huge contributions from Trevor Molloy, leading with a double-double in kills and digs,” UD coach Paul Choi said. “Sam Moss came up big during his service runs. It was a hard fought win against a scrappy La Salle team.”
Molloy had 17 kills, four blocks and 12 digs while Moss had three aces and six digs.
Colin Dowdell added eight kills and five blocks while Colin Ross and David Levin both had five kills. Ross also had four blocks while Levin led the defense with 17 digs. Sean Bainbridge added 15 digs, and Sean Seabrook had four aces, five kills and 13 digs. Setter Spencer Beidner had 41 assists, 13 digs and two kills.
Monday, April 19
SOUDERTON 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-19)
The Indians earned a hard fought sweep of the visiting Ghosts.
“It was a well rounded team win,” coach Luke Pinto said. “Game one was capped off by freshman Jake Halteman’s first ever varsity experience and a game-winning ace. It provided a huge momentum swing.”
Aidan Wunderly (nine kills, five digs, three blocks), Luke Hess (eight kills, six digs) and Andrew Brown (six kills, two aces) led the Indians.
Abington was led by Sean Dougherty with 18 digs, Sam Miller with 12 kills and Leo Presta with 15 assists.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 (26-24, 25-13, 25-21)
The Flying Cardinals won their 10th match without a loss with their sweep of the Bucks.
Trevor Molloy led a balanced attack with 11 kills, one block and nine digs, and David Levin contributed 10 kills, one ace, one block and eight digs. Colin Dowdell added seven kills, one block and two digs. Colin Ross had one ace, three kills and four blocks, and Sean Bainbridge had 10 digs and one assist. Setter Spencer Beidner had 36 assists, one ace, two kills and seven digs.
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-16)
The Patriots earned a sweep of the Golden Hawks in Monday’s non-league match.
Setter Liam Ostrander had 17 assists, one kills, two aces, two blocks and four digs. Aiden Leichter led the defense with 17 digs. Also making contributions were Trevor Seestedt (six kills, one block, one dig), Gabe Casiello (two kills, four digs), Josh Lyzinski (nine kills, four blocks), Matt LaBouliere (six kills, one block, seven digs), AJ Helveston (one kill, one assist, three aces, 10 digs), Pat Haurin (two kills, six digs) and Stephen DiRugeris (four aces, four digs).
